March 2025 BOSSI Examination Outcomes 

Results from the Board Examinations for Land Surveying are provided below.

Certificates of Competency 

As a result of the BOSSI examinations conducted in March 2025, 7 land surveying candidates earned their Certificate of Competency.

Congratulations to the following surveying candidates who earned their Certificate of Competency; Sam Hawkins, Dwayne Marr, Michael Martin, Alexander Mitrevski, Kristi Plavsic, Lachlan Smith and Tianqing Yang.

 

Emerging Surveyor Advisor - Angelo Beretta  

The Board would like to welcome Angelo Beretta as our new BOSSI Emerging Surveyor Advisor. Angelo is a recently Registered Land Surveyor.

After graduating from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Surveying and Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Honours) in 2022, Angelo  became a registered land surveyor in 2024, earning recognition from BOSSI for his hard work and attention to detail throughout the registration process. 

In this role, Angelo is keen to represent and advocate for the next generation of surveyors in NSW ensuring their voices are heard and their interests are championed.

 
 

Examination Determination Update  

The Board's Examination Determination, which is applicable to both land and mining surveying candidates has been updated. Please ensure you are accessing the most current edition of the Determination via the BOSSI website. 

 
  • Period of validity for examination competency requirement added.
  • Application for special consideration added.
  • Project exemption form added.
  • Updated definition of a mentoring surveyor and supervising surveyor.
  • Updated candidate project submission process.
  • Minor amendments to project deliverables for:
  • Rural Cadastral
  • Urban Cadastral 
  • Town Planning 
  • Strata and Community Title
  • Mining classes of registration added

BOSSI Determination and Guideline Updates

The Surveyors Assistant Determination and the Supervision Guideline have been updated to reflect the Surveying & Spatial Information Regulation 2024 and are now available on the BOSSI website.

BOSSI Examination Exemption Request Forms 

Candidates must ensure that their project meets the requirements outlined in the Examination Determination. If a candidate is unsure whether their project meets the requirements, they should seek advice from their mentoring surveyor. If a candidate requires an exemption for their project they must receive pre-approval from BOSSI prior to attempting their examination. 

Submissions for a variation or exemption must be made via the relevant Examination Exemption Request Form now available on the BOSSI website.

BOSSI Medal Recipients  

 

The School of Engineering Student Prize Presentation night was held at the University of Newcastle on 7 May 2025. The Board of Surveying and Spatial Information medal was awarded to Michaela Lawrence by Board member Peter Sergeant. 

Congratulations to Michaela on this wonderful achievement. 

 

 

The University of New South Wales Awards Ceremony was held on 24 March 2025.The Board of Surveying and Spatial Information medal was awarded to Jasmine Cheng by the Surveyor-General Narelle Underwood.
