Continuing Professional Development

The Board requires that a Surveyor undergo a level of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training each year in order to keep up to date with technological development and legislative changes. Surveyors applying for renewal of annual registration are required to demonstrate that they have met the CPD requirements set by the Board for the period prior to renewal. This period extends from the 1st July in one year to 30th June in the following year.

CPD has been defined as "the process by which a professional surveyor maintains and develops the ongoing quality and relevance of his/her professional practice". It has two components - development of professional experience and continuing education.

To enable CPD to be consistently and fairly administered and to assist surveyors in preparation of applications for CPD certificates the Board has prepared a policy document for distribution to all registered surveyors in New South Wales. BOSSI has adopted a Revised CPD Determination (PDF 168.8) which came into effect on the 6th of April 2006 and Surveyors will be required to comply with this policy for renewal of Registration in the year 2008/2009.
