Who we are
There is constituted by the Surveying Act, 2002 a corporation with the corporate name "Board of Surveying and Spatial Information".
The Board is to consist of between 10 and 12 members, of whom:
- One is to be the Surveyor-General, and
- One is to be a registered surveyor, being an officer of the Department, appointed by the Minister, and
- Three are to be persons appointed by the Minister on the nomination of such professional association of land surveyors as is prescribed by the regulations for the purposes of this section, and
- One is to be a person appointed by the Minister on the nomination of such professional association of mining surveyors as is prescribed by the regulations for the purposes of this section, and
- Between one and three are to be persons appointed by the Minister on the nomination of such professional association of persons involved in the spatial information industry as is prescribed by the regulations for the purposes of this section, and
- One is to be a person appointed by the Minister on the nomination of the Minister administering the Coal Mines Regulation Act 1982, and
- One is to be a person appointed by the Minister on the nomination of the Minister administering the Fair Trading Act 1987, and
- One is to be a person appointed by the Minister on the basis of his or her qualifications and experience in the training of surveyors.
The Surveyor-General is to be the President of the Board.
Members can be appointed for successive terms.
